Northeast Missouri expects to get 195 million dollars for transportation projects over the next decade if voters approve a statewide sales tax amendment in August.
That would be the 17-county region’s share of revenue generated by the three-quarters-of-a-cent increase.
Voters will know exactly what they’re getting in return, because the Missouri Department of Transportation is putting together a list of priority projects regionally and around the state.
The lists will be revealed June 13th, when the agency starts a weeklong comment period seeking public input. Recommendations will be made June 25th to the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission, which has final say on the priorities.
The total pool of funding from the tax increase would be divided among the seven transportation districts in the state as well as cities and counties.
