CENTER — Friday the 13th proved to be a good luck charm for the Bowling Green Bobcats as they battled back from an early deficit to claim their first win of the season on the road, 26-14, against Mark Twain.
The Tigers got on the board first as Lakoda Preston scored from the kickoff. Mark Twain tacked on the two-point conversion to lead 8-0. The Tigers scored again later in the first as Logan Perrigo squeezed in on a three-yard run. The Bowling Green defense stopped the two-point try to trail 14-0.
An Austin Callahan 45-yard run got the Bobcats on the board. The point after was blocked for a 14-6 score at the half.
In the third Callahan connected with Nick Breakfield on a 53-yard catch. With the two-point conversion, the Bobcats knotted the score at 14 at about the three-minute mark.
Bowling Green pushed ahead with 4:30 remaining on a Gavin Deters two-yard run. They added some security with under two minutes to go as Callahan scored on a 42-yard run for a 26-14 victory.
Charlie Bowen got a key sack late in the game on a fourth down. He had two and half other sacks defensively as well. He discussed the win with Eagle 102 following the win.
“We were just all working together. It was a team effort,” Bowen remarked.

Coach Kevin Krietemeyer said he thought the defense played really well and kept the team in the game until the offense could get rolling.
“Mark Twain was a very physical team played down hill,” he explained. “Coach Asbury had his kids ready to go. I was very pleased with the way our kids battled and found a way to finish.”
The game is archived with streaming video on the KJFM Eagle 102 website: www.kjfmeagle102.net. The Bobcats will host Montgomery County for homecoming this Friday, Sept. 20.CLOPTON-ELSBERRY
The Clopton-Elsberry IndianHawks led for much of the game against North Callaway on Friday, but couldn’t hold on for the victory.
The IndianHawks fell to 1-2 for the sea-son with the 46-29 loss. Clopton-Elsberry will travel to Van-Far on Friday, Sept. 20. That game will be featured as the KJFM Eagle 102 Game of the Week. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. with the pregame starting at 6:45 p.m.

The Louisiana Bulldogs travelled to Brentwood on Friday. Louisiana’s defense was able to hold the Eagles to a singe TD throughout the first quarter. In the second frame there was a flurry of activity and by halftime the Bulldogs trailed 35-14.
Each team made it into the endzone one more time before the final horn. The Bulldogs dropped to 0-3 for the season with the 41-20 loss.
Coach Joe Calhoun noted that Devin Cropp scored all three of the Bulldogs’ touchdowns with two rushing and one on a kickoff return.
“We moved the ball decent, but once again made a few too many mistakes on both sides of the ball to be in it at the end,” Calhoun remarked. “We’ve got a tough opponent in Hermann this week so we need to have a good week of practice.”
The Bulldogs will take on an undefeated Hermann at home on Friday.
