LOUISIANA, Mo. — Terri Stark brought several root stock trees and scions of Red Delicious apples to the first summer program at the Louisiana Area Historical Museum on May 31.
She also brought many different apples that Stark Brothers Nurseries has developed and introduced to markets all over the world.
Children asked many questions. They visited the museum’s Stark Brothers Room to see how field work was done years ago using mules. They also saw catalogs and black and white pictures of Stark’s early years.
The museum at 304 Georgia welcomes visitors each Wednesday from 1 to 3 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to noon. All programs are from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesdays.
Stark’s program was the first of four this summer. The second program will be “Fun with Science” with Frank and Donna Solter on June 7. The third, “The Rocks Under Our Feet,” will be presented by Judy Schmidt on June 14. Schmidt will also present a fourth program, “A Museum Scavenger Hunt,” on June 21.
The Wednesday programs are for all children and adults. Admission is always free of charge.
