Options for Women will hold its 12th Annual Walk For Life and BBQ on Saturday, May 17th at the Bowling Green City Park. Check-in and registration begins at 10:30 AM with the actual walk beginning at 11:00 AM. You may register at https://secure.fundeasy.com/ministrysync/event/?e=29541. Each walker who raises $200 or more will receive a free t-shirt. Walk For Life T-shirts will be available for purchase as well. This year’s Walk for Life is dedicated to the memory of Mary Oberman, who passed away in October 2024. Mary was an Options for Women Founder, former Board of Directors Member and Secretary, Nurse, and Coach but in addition, she would organize and plan the Walk for Life and Banquet for Life events. She went even a step further by helping prepare the meals for those events, doing it with a smile and a sense of ease. Mary was truly a blessing and is greatly missed. Her support, work and commitment are why we are making this year’s Walks for Life the “Mary Oberman Memorial Walks for Life”. We want to celebrate her life!
A barbecue will be held with eat-in or carry-out available from 11 am to 1 pm. The menu will include hamburgers, pork burgers, hot dogs, prepackaged chips and desserts, and bottled water and lemonade.
Proceeds from the barbecue and donations from the Walk For Life will go to support the Options for Women Pregnancy Resource Center, located at 1420 S. Bus. 61, Suite B at the roundabout in Bowling Green. Options for Women opened in Bowling Green in 2016, and in the fall of 2022, opened a Hannibal location. Options for Women serves pregnant women and young mothers and fathers from Pike and surrounding counties. Services provided include medical grade pregnancy tests, ultrasounds, and life coaching, all confidential and at no cost. Pregnancy, parenting, and life skills classes are offered free at the center and online, with incentives for participation. Options for Women also offers referrals for medical help and temporary housing for expectant mothers in need, prenatal vitamins, coaching and support for those grieving a pregnancy loss of any type, adoption referrals, information on abortion and abortion pill reversal, a mentoring program for young men, and ongoing support and encouragement to young parents.
