Our menu this year includes: pancakes, sausage, scrambled eggs, fruit, coffee, juice and milk.
Louisiana Lions Club became a chartered club on September 2, 1959, marking the first year of our Pancake Day being Spring of 1960. Members and volunteers have come and gone, but our club has a strong tradition of two “expert” pancake flippers. Mr. Charlie Shelton and Lion Herb Everett. Both will be making their historical appearance at our annual breakfast.
Lions Clubs International began in 1917, and in 1922 the Ames Lions Club in Ames, Iowa held their first “Flapjack Supper.” One of the longest running and most successful Pancake Days is the Cape Girardeau Lions Club which began their Pancake Days in 1939.
Lions Club International is known for our vision and hearing programs, but we are so much more. Lions Clubs International is renowned as the world’s largest service club organization, primarily focusing on fighting blindness and providing vision care, while also contributing to various community and humanitarian efforts. We now have an 8-point focus within the following areas: Vision, Childhood Cancer, Diabetes, Disaster Relief, Environment, Humanitarian, Hunger, and Youth.
