City Council Announces Impeachment Proceedings Concerning Councilwoman Heather Wernowsky
The City of Louisiana announces that the City Council has adopted Articles of Impeachment concerning Councilwoman Heather Wernowsky following a formal complaint submitted by Chief of Police Col. Josh Baker.
The Articles allege violations of City Code Section 200.055 – Interference by Members of Council, and conduct inconsistent with the proper duties of an elected official.
An impeachment hearing has been scheduled for:
Date: January 8th, 2026
Time: 6:00 PM
Location: City Hall Council Chambers
At the hearing, evidence and testimony will be presented, and the Council will determine whether the allegations constitute misconduct, malfeasance, or interference with administrative operations.
The City is committed to maintaining transparency, accountability, and the integrity of municipal governance throughout this process.
No further comment will be made until the conclusion of the hearing.
