LOUISIANA, Mo — Louisiana Community Betterment Association was pleased to present the 2024 Advocate of the Year award to Mr. Russell “Sonny” Stevens during the annual banquet of the Louisiana Chamber of Commerce, held on Thursday, April 10th. The Advocate Award began in 2018. This award is to honor someone in the community who gives up their time and talents, and is always there, although, does so in a way that is not outwardly recognized by many others. Mr. Stevens, or “Sonny” as he is known by so many within the community, is definitely one of those people. Mr. Stevens served our country in the US Army. He loves water sports, is a Mizzou Tiger fan and advid golfer. Mr. Stevens served as a city councilman for many years and volunteered for over 40 years as the statistician and announcer for the Louisiana High School football team. He has served as a volunteer at Pike County Memorial Hospital for over 25 years in the gift shop and at the front desk. Sonny is also the biggest fan and supporter of his eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren, attending nearly all of their athletic games, concerts, theater, productions, dance recitals, and other events. Sunny received a standing ovation when the award was presented by Diana Huckstep, LCBA Chairperson.
