CLARKSVILLE, Mo. — Area residents still have time to enter works in the 50th Annual Raintree Arts Council Art Exhibit and Judged Competition.

The event is being held in conjunction with Clarksville Applefest Oct. 12 and 13 at The Apple Shed along Highway 79.

The deadline for student entries has passed, but adults may submit items at The Apple Shed from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9, or 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10.

Accepted media are oil, acrylic, watercolor, pastel, drawing, printmaking, photography, ceramics, fiber art, collage/montage, glass sculpture, wood carving and metal sculpture.

Two-dimensional work must be framed, properly mounted when appropriate and wired for hanging. No sawtooth hangers will be accepted. No wet paintings or two-dimensional work larger than 4’x4.’ Three-dimensional artists must supply bases for sculptural works if necessary.

The competition is open to all artists, but works must be original. A twist for 2024 is that submissions may have been completed anytime in the last 50 years. The adult division is for artists 18 and older, with professional and amateur categories. Professional is described as people who make at least 50 percent of their income from art, have a degree in art or have exhibited in a professional art show. There is also a separate adult photography division for traditional and digital submissions.

Adult division awards range from $25 to $500. Youth division prizes range from $2 to $50. A public reception and critique by contest judge Lacey Minor of Lindenwood University will be at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 11.

Purchase pledges are available for artists’ asking prices. Raintree will receive a 25 percent commission from work sold during the show. Selections for purchases may be made from 4 to 6 p.m. Oct. 11.

Pick up is from 3 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 13. Raintree is not responsible for items taken without being checked out or those left after 4 p.m., and is not responsible for loss or damage. The show will be enclosed and locked each night.
