A few short weeks ago, the John Cotton Memorial Animal Shelter received a call about a dog wandering around Louisiana and he looked as though he was injured. John Cotton Memorial Animal Shelter quickly sprang into action to find the black and white K9. The dog was found on the porch at a home renovation construction site, ball in his mouth, waiting for someone to play with him. Volunteers from the local animal shelter approached the loving pup and stepped in to save his life.
It was obvious that the dog had endured trauma and he was far from healthy. JCMAS volunteers Gayle Williams and Gerold Bernal knew that help was needed quickly to better the life of such a sweet and loving dog. The black and white stray had a severely deformed foot, a hernia, was very skinny, and carried an odor due to a run in with a skunk. His injuries and stinky situation with a skunk earned him the name “Wobbles McStinky.”
Wobbles was taken to the Bowling Green Veterinary Clinic for evaluations and X-rays late in September. The stray needed surgery to correct a hernia, an amputation, and needed to be neutered. The estimate for all of the work Wobbles needed sat around $1,500.
“We absolutely knew that we would have to get a rescue to take him or do some serious fundraising to save his life,” said JCMAS volunteer Gayle Williams.
Williams’ sister follows a Facebook page called the Mona Pants Foundation based in North Carolina. The Mona Pants Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a mission of raising money for animal rescue groups and shelters. JCMAS made a Facebook post sharing Mr. McStinky’s story, and the Mona Pants Foundation was tagged in the post. The nonprofit organization stepped in immediately and provided the funds needed to get Wobbles the help he so desperately needs.
Wobbles will have surgery October 5, but has a long road of recovery ahead. JCMAS is not designed to care for an animal that has endured extensive medical treatment, nor do they have the funding. Following his surgery this week, Wobbles is in desperate need of a loving home or an animal rescue.
If you have interest in caring for Wobbles, please reach out the John Cotton Memorial Animal Shelter through their Facebook page or give them a call at (970)-307-3079. Donations are greatly appreciated and always accepted.
