LOUISIANA, Mo. — It has been an exciting few days this past week for the Louisiana track team. With two students who have broken a Louisiana High School record and two more who are hoping to do the same.

Senior Jase Luck has been hoping to break the school record for javelin this whole season, and he finally accomplished it. At the Wright City meet this past Thursday, Jase achieved it. The Louisiana High School record for javelin was 43.43 meters. Jase went above and beyond breaking it the first time and then breaking it again at the same meet. He first threw 43.80 meters breaking the record and then later in the same meet broke his own record. He then set the boys’ high school javelin record at 47.88 meters. Jase could possibly even break his own record again as he competes in the upcoming meets this season.

Junior Alli Jenkins excitedly broke the girls’ javelin record a few days before Jase. She too had been hoping to break it as she was just a few meters away from that end goal every time. The girls’ javelin record was 32.67 meters until Alli broke it at the North Callaway meet. Just like Jase, she broke the record at the meet setting it as 32.87 meters but then broke her own record. She threw a final of 34.48 meters, which is the current record for the Louisiana girls’ javelin. She too could probably break her own record again this season, and Louisiana is eager to see what else she can do.

There are also two more track members who are searching to break a record this season. Sophomore Jamal Blackwell has come close and is determined to break the boys’ high jump record. He is just inches away from making history. His current personal best is 1.92 meters or 6.299 feet. The boys’ high jump record for Louisiana is 1.96 meters or 6.43 feet. Sophomore Jordan Pedersen is about to do the same but for the girls’ high jump. Just like Jamal, she is just a few short inches away from doing so. Jordan’s current personal best is 1.58 meters or 5.18 feet. The girls’ high jump record for Louisiana is 1.61 meters or 5.28 feet. They are putting in the work at practice and are excited to see their hard work pay off.

The Louisiana High School is proud of Jase and Alli for setting a new high school record for boys and girls javelin. They are also excited to see what else may happen in the upcoming weeks ahead with Jamal and Jordan.
