
KJFM NEWS – The mid-term elections were held on Tuesday nationwide.
In Illinois the race was called early that Gov. J.B. Pritzker has been re-elected for another term. Missouri continued to lean heavily to the republican side. Republican Eric Schmidt took an early lead over Democrat Trudy Bush Valentine and was predicted to take the seat of the retiring Senator Roy Blunt.
Pike County, Mo. had no contested races, however a use tax question was on the ballot, ‘Shall the County of Pike impose a local use tax at the same rate as the total local sales tax rate, currently at a rate of 2.5625%, provided that if the local sales tax rate is reduced or raised by voter approval, the local use tax rate shall also be reduced or raised by the same action?’ The nays won the vote 3,210 to 1,731 yes votes.
Missouri also had the hot topic of legalizing marijuana on the ballot. In Pike County, the measure failed by just under 1,000 votes 3,052 no votes to 2,071 yes votes.
In Pike County, Ill. two local races were on the ballot including county clerk and county treasurer. The clerk race went to Natalie Roseberry over Shelly Brennecke 3,242-2,736; treasurer was Scott Syrcle over Gage Weir 4,681-1,358.
