BOWLING GREEN, Mo. — The Second Annual Wings and Wheels event scheduled for Saturday, at the Bowling Green Municipal Airport, will go on as planned, despite a plane crash that took place Thursday near Curryville.
Two people were killed when the plane they were in crashed in a field just off Pike County Road 36, northeast of Curryville. Initial reports confirm the aircraft had been hangered at the Bowling Green Municipal Airport and that witnesses reported the aircraft appeared to be having engine issues prior to the crash. Local agencies responded to the initial call, the Missouri State Highway Patrol handled the initial report and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) investigators are expected to be on the scene today.
According to Bowling Green Mayor Jim Arico, the Wings and Wheels event will continue as originally planed, however a ceremony will be held to honor the two people who died in the crash. You can find more on this year’s Wings and Wheels event here.
