CLARKSVILLE, Mo. — Cornet Chop Suey performed for more than 100 people Sept. 25 at The Apple Shed in Clarksville. The band is pictured tearing through “Ain’t Nobody Here But Us Chickens.” From left are Rick Zelle on piano, Jerry Epperson on woodwinds, Brian Casserly on trumpet, Jay Hungerford on bass, Brent Stamps on trombone and Dick Maley on drums. The band performed many crowd favorites, including “St. James Infirmary,” “Pink Champagne” and “Sweet Georgia Brown.” Other tunes included “Blueberry Hill” made popular by Fats Domino and “I Wanna Be Like You (The Monkey Song)” from Disney’s “The Jungle Book.” Bowling Green musician Debbie Ingram, also pictured, performed a variety of songs to open the concert. A bittersweet moment came at the end when Casserly announced that founding member Tom Tucker is retiring after 25 years. The show was sponsored by Raintree Arts Council, which receives partial funding from the Missouri Arts Council, a state agency.
