
KJFM SPORTS– A four-hit day for Taylor Howard led the Silex Lady Owls to an 18-3 victory over Lutheran on Monday night.
Lutheran opened up scoring in the first inning. A ground out from Lutheran’s Johnson scored one run before the Lady Owls could record three outs. Silex responded by posting two runs in the home half of the first inning and didn’t look back after that.
Silex notched seven runs in the second inning. Contributing to the big inning included Howard, Gwen Gilbert, Tori Mudd, and Karlie Ellis, who each had RBIs in the inning.
Silex had 16 hits in the game. Howard, Mudd, Rita Thoroughman, and Gilbert all managed multiple hits for the Lady Owls. Howard had success at the plate, the senior went 4-for-4 in the four innings of play. Howard singled in the first, singled in the second, singled in the third, and singled in the fourth.
Ellis led the Lady Owls to victory in the circle allowing three runs on five hits over four innings. Ellis also notched three strikeouts and allowed one walk.
