PIKE COUNTY, Mo. — On Jan. 21st, the Pike County Commission voted to place a half cent sales tax for county law enforcement on the April 6th, 2021 Ballot. This would be in addition to the current half cent sales tax that county law enforcement currently receives.
“Shall Pike County impose a countywide sales tax of one-half (1/2) of 1% for general revenue, for the purpose of providing funding to support current and future operations and capital improvements of the Pike County Sheriff’s Department and jail?”
Simply put, current funding is not keeping pace with what it costs to maintain the current level of service.
The decision to ask for a tax increase was not taken lightly, and the Commission and Sheriff believe that this is the course needed to best serve the citizens of this county now and into the future.
