
LOUISIANA, MO– The sound of the buzzer fills the gym and cheerleaders begin chanting above the noise of fired up sidelines. Fighting like cats and dogs, the Battle of 54 matchup was sent to overtime with a tied-up score of 35. The Bulldogs came out on top, defeating the Bobcats 40-37, bringing the team to two wins on the season.
Getting off to a slow start in the first quarter, Bowling Green and Louisiana continued to force turnovers but failed to capitalize. Five minutes into the first quarter the score sat in favor of Louisiana 2-1. In the last three minutes of play, scoring began to pick up for both sides as shots began to fall, wrapping up the first quarter with a 6-4 Bowling Green lead.

Louisiana Junior Tremaine Chatman kicked off the third quarter with a three-pointer, sparking a back and forth scoring spree in the first two minutes of the second half. Bowling Green sophomore Ma
rcus Starks responded automatically draining a three for the ‘Cats restoring the Bowling Green lead. Jack Logan a sophomore Bulldog, posted another three for Louisiana, putting an end to the three-point shootout. The game was tied at thirty rolling into the final eight minutes of the game.
A low scoring fourth quarter ended with a score of 35, sending the ‘Cats and ‘Dogs to overtime. Louisiana determined the fate of the Bobcats by finding their way to the free-throw line and gaining possession of the ball often. With a chance to score with less than ten seconds left in overtime, the Bobcats were unable to redeem themselves, falling to Louisiana 40-37.
Tramaine Chatman led the Bulldogs with 14 points on the evening and Brayden Heidecker led the Bobcats with 7 points.
Bowling Green girls basketball defeated Louisiana 61-16 prior to the boys game. Bowling Green’s Head Coach Jared Runyon etched his first career win as head coach of the Lady Bobcats in the books. Emily Powell posted 10 points for the Bulldogs, Gracie Deters and Kaylynn Charlton each had 14 points in the Bowling Green win.
