
KJFM NEWS — In the absence of traditional Veterans Day programs, schools across the area are finding safe and effective ways to honor those who served. To-go meals, virtual celebrations, and parades have been scheduled for Nov. 11 in Bowling Green, Louisiana, Clarksville, and Silex.
Bowling Green Middle School will be offering 250 free meals for veterans on Wednesday, Nov. 11. Participants can drive up by the doors of the middle school office and receive their meals while remaining in their cars from 10:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
Louisiana Middle School will have a drive thru breakfast on Veterans Day from 8-9:30 a.m. The menu includes scrambled eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy, potatoes, and juice.
Clopton High School FFA is crafting a virtual Veteran’s recognition that will be shared through the district’s social media and the district web page.
The Silex R-I School District is set to host a Veterans Day parade beginning at 1 p.m. on Nov. 11. The parade route will run from the corner of Church and Bluff Street, behind the softball concession stand to Cherry Street. Parade line up will begin on the third base side of the softball field, and the parade will exit on Highway E. Those interested in joining the parade are asked to provide military information to the Silex school district to ensure signs are created for the vehicles in the parade.
