BOWLING GREEN, Mo. — In a low-scoring game, the Lady ‘Cats were victorious 3-1 over the North Callaway Thunderbirds. Thursday’s win moved Bowling Green to 9-0 in conference play, naming them undefeated EMO conference champions.
Strong pitching on both sides made it difficult for Bowling Green and North Callaway offensively, as the teams struggled to gain momentum.
The Lady ‘Cats squeezed out three runs on five hits in the seven-inning nail biter. Hailey Prater and Jade Meier walked away with two hits a piece on the night, and Kennedy Grimsley recorded one hit. Grimsley’s sixth inning line drive double provided some insurance late in the game, driving in a run making the score 3-1.
Turner was the winning pitcher for the ladies in red and black, allowing one run on four hits, striking out 12 Thunderbirds. North Callaway scored on an error from Turner in the sixth inning, when the ball was thrown into the third base dugout. The runner was allowed to advance home on the play, but the rally was quickly shut down with a line drive out and a strikeout from Turner.
The Lady ‘Cats move to 15-5 on the season and will travel to Troy Friday to battle non-conference opponent the Lady Trojans.
