PIKE COUNTY, Ill. — The Pike County Health Department has been notified of five new COVID-19 cases:
- 1 male in his 30’s
- 1 female in her 30’s
- 1 male in his 50’s
- 2 females in their 60’s
Close contacts are being identified and will be asked to quarantine for 14 days from their last contact with the positive case per CDC guidelines.
A total of 39 COVID-19 cases in Pike County residents have been reported to the health department. Of those, 13 are active, one is hospitalized and 26 have recovered.
Pike County Health Department continues to recommend that everyone follow the CDC and IDPH guidelines. Without the help of each and every resident of Pike County, the county will continue to see an increase in cases, which could lead to serious illness and death.
Ways to prevent the spread:
- Wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds – especially after you have been in a public place or after blowing your nose, coughing or sneezing. Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.
- Avoid close contact with those that are sick. Please stay home and away from others when you are not feeling well.
- Maintain social distancing recommendations of at least six feet. Remember that some people without symptoms may be able to spread the virus.
- Cover your nose and mouth with a cloth face covering when around others and unable to socially distance.
- Cover your coughs and sneezes with a tissue, then throw the tissue away and wash your hands.
- Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces daily.
- Avoid social gatherings of more than 50 people per Illinois Recover plan.
