Visitors coming into Bowling Green
will be seeing new signs at the city limits honoring the Bowling Green
Boys Cross Country Team. The team of Andy Schuckenbrock, Brandon
Buchanan, Brett Butler, Brian Buchmeier, Andrew Fisher, Troy Perkins and Gavin Wisecarver won state honors as the 2009 Class 2 Boys Cross Country Champions.
The team won their regional competition last year and then went to Jefferson City to state competition. The Community State Bank of Missouri located in Bowling Green sponsored and paid for the signs which were recently installed by the Missouri Department of Transportation.
The
signs are located at the city limits on Routes 54, 161 and Y coming
into Bowling Green. "It's not how many drivers see the sign that is
important; it's important the students know it's there, and they will
be recognized for their outstanding achievements," said Elizabeth
Kingsley with Community State Bank of Missouri, who has been working
with the school and MoDOT on the project.
Matt
Chance, coach of the Bowling Green Cross Country team agrees. "This was
a great group of athletes to coach, and I am proud of their outstanding
achievement and that they are being recognized by the community."
Community State Bank of Missouri purchased the signs and worked with
MoDOT to get the signs erected.
