Pike County’s Red Hat Ladies, “The Pikers” will walk a marathon to raise money for the Hope Center in Bowling Green and the Food Pantry in Louisiana on Monday, Sept. 20 at 11 a.m.
The Red Hatters range in age from 60-90, but they will walk the entire length from the Bowling Green city limit sign to the city limit sign in McCune. McCune is north of Bowling Green about five miles and is along Route U. The ladies are seeking sponsors at $10 each for their marathon.
If you know a Red Hat Lady, call and offer your sponsorship. If you would like to contribute, but don’t have personal contact with a Red Hatter, you can call Betty Salois in Bowling Green at 573-324-3434 or Mary Littrel in Louisiana at 573-754-4078.
They are hoping for a big turnout, approximately 20 or more ladies dressed in their finest Red Hat ensembles with red hats and purples shirts and their walking shoes. They plan to have a SAG wagon for those who may have to rest along the way as well as a refreshment cart in case it’s a hot day. Come out if you can and watch the fun!
We all know of the extra pressure on the Food Pantry and the Hope Center due to so many families suffering hard times. The Red Hatters are trying to help and are hoping you will too. Come out and see the Red Hat ladies walking in all their finery in the McCune Marathon Monday, Sept. 20.
