Brian Buchmeier, senior at Bowling Green High School, recently finished 13th overall at the Coaches National Youth Championships at Masterson Station Park in Lexington, Kentucky. By placing in the top 20, Buchmeier becomes the first Bowling Green cross country athlete to earn All American honors.
Bowling Green High School Cross Country Coach Matt Chance says “This is a tremendous honor for Brian. He has done basically everything you can possibly do in the sport of cross country and this will top off an amazing career.”
Buchmeier finished the 5k course in 16:29 marking one of the fastest times of his career.
“It is always nice to finish off your last race with a personal best and that is exactly what Brian did. Having been around Brian a lot over the past two weeks I really felt that he was ready to run fast.”- adds Coach Chance.
Buchmeier ran on the Brocaw Blazers racing team. His team finished 2nd overall in the national team championships. Brian is the son of Chuck and Nancy Buchmeier of Curryville.
