With the water levels along the Mississippi River rising due to the recent rains, area patrons have begun sandbagging efforts in Clarksville. By Monday, April 22 the Clarksville area is predicted to see major flooding that could impact area stores and homes along Hwy. 79. The town is asking for volunteers to assist in putting up a rock wall and filling sandbags. Anyone who would like to help is asked to stop in at Clarksville City Hall on Howard Street.
In Louisiana, as waters continue to rise, parts along Hwy. 79 could be closed due to water coverage. All citizens are asked to avoid driving through areas where they can not see the road.
