Speaking of the transportation tax, a court hearing is June 24 on the controversial proposal in Missouri.
Voters on August 5th will consider the constitutional amendment to raise the state sales tax three-quarters-of-a-cent. Funding would be used for road and bridge work.
The Missouri Association for Social Welfare has filed a lawsuit saying that the ballot information leaves out details such as the fact that Missouri’s use tax would also rise.
The lawsuit also challenges projections that the tax would generate more than 500 million dollars a year over 10 years.
The petitioners are asking that a new summary and cost estimate be drafted.
