The Missouri State Emergency Management Agency is scheduled to be in Clarksville on Monday to assess flood damage.
A representative of the agency will also discuss what can be done to help prevent future flooding. Clarksville would like to buy a three-and-a-half million dollar portable flood wall, but doesn’t have the money.
It could take two weeks for the water that inundated the community to drop below flood stage after a crest of almost 35 feet on July 8.
Residents and business owners were spending the weekend manning pumps and watching for leaks in sandbag and concrete walls used to keep water out of the downtown area.
While Highway 79 remained closed north and south of Clarksville on Friday and forced a detour on the south side of Louisiana, the Champ Clark Bridge at Louisiana re-opened to traffic after water receded on the Illinois approach.
