Taco Bell is breaking ground for a new-look restaurant in Bowling Green on Thursday (Sept. 25).
It will be on a one-acre site along Business 61 near the roundabout on the southeast side of town.
The 40-seat restaurant will measure two thousand and 29 square feet. Dirt work is under way and job applications are being taken.
City Administrator Dan Lang said the eatery will feature a new design that’s just being implemented by Taco Bell nationally. It calls for a stone column at the entry and other amenities.
Developer for the project is Bell American Group of Indianapolis. The firm started with two Taco Bells franchises in 1982 and now operates 170 restaurants with 200 million dollars in sales.
Plans call for two entry points – one off of Business 61 and another along Sharry Street in the Bowling Green Business Park.
The city sold the lot to Bell American for 220 thousand dollars – 40 thousand more than the original asking price. The money will go into the city’s general fund.
Taco Bell will be the second restaurant in the business park. The Saints Avenue Café opened two years ago.
