People who are using the highways during the holidays can expect the lowest gasoline prices in five years.

The average cost for a gallon Tuesday in Missouri was two dollars and two cents. However, drivers could find gas as low as one dollar and 81 cents in Desoto. The top price across Missouri was three dollars and 19 cents in Cape Girardeau.

In Illinois, the average was two dollars and 35 cents a gallon. The lowest price was one dollar and 93 cents in Jacksonville, with the highest at three dollars and 89 cents in Chicago.

In Pike County Missouri, drivers were paying two dollars and nine cents.
