The Pike County Fairgrounds will hopefully be receiving a facelift thanks to a generous pledge donation from Bank of Louisiana. At the last Fair Board meeting, a proposal was made regarding the construction of a new outdoor canopy and stage on the track, which would allow for the hosting of larger entertainment events, as well as better service the current acts it hosts annually. The project cost is approximately $100,000. The Fair Board would love to get this venue completed to accommodate entertainers as early as this year, but funds have to be raised to achieve this goal. The current fair budget handles the input costs for the next year, but nothing of this magnitude for capital improvements.
Bank of Louisiana stepped up and was the first to pledge $10,000 to the project. Amber Shafer, Bank of Louisiana President, as well as Associate Fair Board Member, is now challenging other local businesses and individuals to match their donation as well. To thank Bank of Louisiana & those who meet the challenge to donate to the construction of the new building, the Fair Board is offering the back side of the stage to feature their names and logos. If you or your business is interested in donating to improve the outdoor stage, please contact Jerry Hickerson, the Fair Board’s Entertainment Committee Chair at 573-470-3413. The Pike County Fair Board is a Non-Profit Organization.
