Despite rains in recent days, regional flooding is not expected along the Mississippi and Illinois rivers.
The Mississippi was three feet below flood stage Tuesday in Louisiana and four feet below that mark in Clarksville. At Valley City, the Illinois had dropped to about five feet below the technical flood line.
The precipitation should come as no surprise in Pike County Missouri. May typically is the wettest month, with an average of four-and-a-quarter inches of rain.
With a few days left in the month, a little over four inches has fallen.
