Organizers of Louisiana’s bicentennial in 2018 have picked dates and a theme for the celebration.

Events will take place the week of July 4th, with a theme of From the Past Looking Forward. A list of activities and fund-raisers is still being developed. Much of the celebration will take place at the riverfront and along Georgia Street.

The city has set up a Bicentennial Committee and welcomes participants from businesses, churches, schools and civic organizations. The committee’s next meeting is tentatively set for 7 p.m. January 21 at the Elks Lodge in downtown Louisiana.
