Pike County Commissioners plan discussions Thursday (Dec. 10) on a loan to cover what officials say are 160 thousand dollars of outstanding bills in the sheriff’s department.
Revenue that came in recently from a law enforcement sales tax should cover the department’s remaining two payrolls for the year, but county number crunchers say there are unpaid bills that must be addressed.
Commissioners could cover the entire amount from general revenue or consider a mix of a loan and spending cuts.
The discussions were prompted by a recent report that showed earlier income from the law enforcement tax had failed to meet expectations.
