Louisiana expects to name a new police chief on March 14th.
A decision was anticipated this week, but was postponed after a member of the Police Hiring Board became ill and members decided to conduct more interviews.
Eleven applications have been submitted. The city has been without a designated top cop since Rich Hughes died in July 2014. Acting Chief April Epperson has been in charge of operations since then.
The job pays almost 46 thousand dollars a year and requires the chief to live in the city limits. Mayor Bart Niedner will make a recommendation to the city council, which will vote on a candidate.
