Suspicious activity lead to an arrest in Pike County, Missouri yesterday.
The sheriff’s office received a report of a suspicious vehicle in the area of the intersection of Pike County roads 409 and 411. The caller spoke with the single occupant of the vehicle who had been driving around the area for a couple of hours. The driver of the vehicle said that he was” looking for some kids” and declined any assistance.
Deputies arrived in the area a little after 2 p.m. and upon arrival the individual who orginally called in the report observed the same vehicle park along 411 east of 409 and walk into a wooded area, return to his car and then back to the wooded area. Deputies made contact with subject when he came back out of the woods. His first statement to the deputies was “if you find something in the woods it’s not mine.” The subject had in his pocket a legal stun gun. Contact was then made with the property owner who wished to press trespassing charges.
Frankie C. Scott, 53, of Bowling Green was taken into custody, booked and released with a ticket for trespassing.
Because of Scott’s statements a search of the wooded area was conducted. Assisting the Sheriff’s Office in the search was a trooper on the ground and a helicopter in the air from the Missouri State Highway Patrol. The search which included an infrared camera located no other persons or anything suspicious.
All persons charged with a crime are presumed innocent until convicted in a court of law.
