This past Saturday, Sept. 10 a Pike County Missouri Sheriff’s Deputy responded to Clarksville for a report of a woman assaulting people and threatening to get a gun. The deputy located her lying in the bed of a pickup that did not belong to her, near the river front and was later identified as Sandra L Gilmer, 37, of Louisiana.
Gilmer than became hostel towards the deputy and stated that she was going to get her gun and shoot the deputy. Gilmer then pulled away and ran towards the driver’s side of her truck. She reached into the open window and attempted to grab something from inside the truck. The deputy grabbed her from behind and took her to the ground with force. During the struggle Gilmer bit, scratched attempted to punch the deputy.
A search of the vehicle revealed a pink color hatchet that was located in the floor on the driver’s side of the vehicle. This is the object that is believed that Gilmer had attempted to grab from the truck when she reaching through the window.
Gilmer has been charged with the class C felony of assault of a Law Enforcement Officer in the second degree. Bond was set at $20,000 cash only.
All persons charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
