On August 26, 1990, the body of a white female was found in a secluded area of Pike County, Missouri by hikers.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Pike County Sheriff's Office conducted a joint investigation and both agencies continued the homicide investigation for several years.
On July 26, 2016, an investigator with the Missouri State Highway Patrol Division of Drug and Crime Control received a phone call from an individual asking the investigator to look in to the case.
The caller indicated that the unidentified female may be the mother of an acquaintance. The investigators were able to positively identify the female as Cynthia L. Day. The family members of Ms. Day have been notified their loved one was identified.
The investigation is continuing by the Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control and the Pike County Sheriff’s Office. Anyone with information is urged to contact DDCC at 636-300-2800, or the Pike County Sheriff’s Office at 573-342-3202.
