Continuing to make sure kids have access to healthy meals throughout portions of the summer has been a concern for area school districts over the years. Both the Bowling Green R-I and Louisiana R-II School Districts are offering free breakfast and lunch to children 0-18 during their summer school programs.
At the Bowling Green campus beginning June 4th and running through June 29th, each weekday children can receive breakfast from 7:45-8:15 a.m. and lunch from 11 a.m.-12 noon.
The Louisiana district began their services on Tuesday, May 29th and will run Monday through Thursday until June 21st. Meals for grades K-5 will be served at the elementary campus while meals for grades 6-12 will be served on the high school campus. Breakfast will be served from 7:30-8:30 a.m. and lunch from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
Both districts note students do not have to be enrolled in their summer school programs to participate in the free meals throughout the month. For more information contact the appropriate school district.
