Country roads in Pike County, MO now have a 45-miles per hour speed limit. On Monday, commissioners signed an ordinance establishing all county roads shall have a 45-mph speed limit unless otherwise posted.
According to the ordinance language, a county road is any road owned by or maintained by Pike County, regardless of the construction or surface of the road. This will not include any roads owned or maintained by the State of Missouri or any city, town or village located in Pike County.
Persons violating the ordinance will be guilty of a class C misdemeanor, unless exceeding the posted speed limit by 20 mph or more, then it’s a class B misdemeanor.
