CLARKSVILLE – Even if the weather is gloomy, there will be a light shining brightly at Clarksville United Methodist Church on Sunday, Oct. 6.
The congregation is hosting a community re-dedication ceremony for its renovated stained glass windows at 5 p.m. that Sunday.
The public is encouraged to attend, and refreshments will be served afterward.
The time was specifically set because 5 p.m. is one of the moments during the day when the colorful windows are at their best. The tiny congregation recently announced the end of a campaign that generated $80,000 for the restoration in less than five years.
Art Glass Unlimited of St. Louis did the work and will have a representative at the re-dedication.
The money poured in through chicken, fish and soup dinners, notecard and print sales, a quilt raffle, tithes and donations. The church also got a grant last year from the Missouri United Methodist Foundation.
Above all, church members believe faith helped make the campaign successful.
