Local softball teams are gearing up for the postseason which is slated to get underway tonight (Wednesday, Oct. 16) with opening round games.
Bowling Green, Louisiana, Mark Twain and Van-Far teams will participate in the Class 2 District 3 tournament at Montgomery County.
Clopton, Community R-VI, Silex and Wellsville-Middletown teams will take part in the Class 1 District 8 tournament at Paris.
Elsberry will compete in Class 2 District 4 at Valley Park.
Class 2 District 3
The Bowling Green Lady Cats secured the top seed in the Class 2 District 3 bracket and will have an opening round bye. They will take on the winner of the first round game between fourth-seeded Van-Far and fifth-seeded Louisiana. That game will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 16 at 5 p.m. The match-up is scheduled to be featured on KJFM Eagle 102 tonight. The winner will face top-seeded Bowling Green in the semifinal game on Thursday, Oct. 17 at 5 p.m.
Monroe City is seeded second in that tournament and also has an opening round bye. The winner of the opening round game between (3) Montgomery County and (6) Mark Twain will take on (2) Monroe City in the semifinal on Thursday at 7 p.m.
The championship game of the Class 2 District 3 tournament is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 19 at 11 a.m.
Class 1 District 8
The Silex Lady Owls has the top seed in the Class 1 District 8 tournament at Paris and has an opening round bye.
Community R-VI is seeded second and Paris is seeded third and both teams also have byes in the first round. The only opening round game will be played by (4) Clopton and (5) Wellsville-Middletown. It is slated to take place on Wednesday, Oct. 16 at 5 p.m. The winner will take on Silex in the semifinal on Thursday, Oct. 17 at 5 p.m.
The semifinal game between (2) Community R-VI and (3) Paris will take place on Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
The championship game for the Class 1 District 8 tournament is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 18 at 6 p.m.
Class 2 District 4
The Elsberry Lady Indians have the top seed in the Class 2 District 4 tournament at Valley Park this week.
There are only four teams in the tournament so there will be no opening round games. Elsberry will face (4) Brentwood in the semifinal on Thursday, Oct. 16 at 3:45 p.m.
The championship game will be Friday, Oct. 18 at 3:45 p.m.
