LOUISIANA – A 28-year-old St. Louis man is in custody after allegedly stealing a vehicle and attempting to flee from authorities in Louisiana on Saturday night.
DeAndre Littleton faces the charge of stealing, a class D felony. He remains lodged in the Pike County Jail on a $10,000 cash only bond.
According to Louisiana Chief of Police April Epperson, a vehicle was reported stolen by a black male from Abel’s North at about 8 p.m.
Littleton allegedly attempted to flee from the riverfront area by driving onto the railroad tracks until he wrecked and the vehicle became stuck. Epperson said the suspect continued to flee on foot at that point. According to the report, Littleton ran toward the Champ Clark Bridges area and climbed up one of the bridge support trusses.
Authorities took Littleton into custody without incident when he climbed back down. He was arrested on a probation violation at the scene.
Epperson said the police department was aided by members of the Pike County Sheriff’s Department and the Louisiana Fire Department.
Individuals charged with a crime are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
