Cross Country
For the 20th time in 26 years, the Bowling Green boys qualified as a team for the state meet. The Bobcats finished third in the district meet at Linn on Saturday, led by Brendan Finnegan who finished 13th overall. The team also includes: Dallas Bair, Nathan Schellman, Logan Pontius, Eamon Finnegan, Stephen Smith and Kaleb Bass. Two Bowling Green girl’s runners qualified for state, Harley Haywood McKinley VanHooser will also run in the Class 3 meet this weekend at Gans Creek.
In Class 2 District 3, two Elsberry runners qualified for state…Jedidiah Heras finished 2nd overall and Ellie Hartley took fifth on Saturday and will advance.
The Class 1 District 3 meet was held at Van-Far on Saturday. The Van-Far boys qualified the team with a second place finish and the Clopton girls’ team qualified with their third place district finish. Slade Keller and Garrett Hopke led the Indians, coming in fifth and sixth respectively. Also qualifying for state as individuals are Clopton’s Jason Hoffman and Silex’s Joseph Noxon. Freshman Beau Beauchamp led the Clopton girls with a third place district finish. Other team members advancing the Class 1 state meet include Briley VanBebber, Amber Caplin, Savanna Mills and Trinity Marler. Two Van-Far girls also advanced to state…Khloe Wallace was fifth in the district meet and Kylee Gibson qualified in 23rd place.
