BOWLING GREEN, Mo — Congratulations to 23 Bowling Green FBLA students that are going to State competition in Springfield April 13-15. Winners go on to Nationals in Anaheim June 28-July 2. Bowling Green had 4 Community Service Award winners at the Gold Level. Proud of you FBLA! Roll Bobcats! Thanks to all who supported the Champ Clark VFW Craft Fair this past Saturday, the St. Clement Trivia Night at the K of C Hall, and the Bowling Green Public Library Trivia Night at the VFW Hall. We have a lot of activity going on throughout the Bowling Green area so don’t say we don’t have anything to do or places to go. Tuesday, April 8 is Election Day, so please vote for the person that you think would best represent you. It is not a popularity contest, but a vote for a person that has knowledge and experience and listens to his/her constituents and represents your ideas and concerns. On April 22 there is Bowling Green Art in the Park with vendors and music and on April 27-30 Missouri Mudders Battle Course Series #2 will be hosting and presenting exciting events. Look for the Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce to start Bingo Nites and the Bowling Green High School graduation will be on Saturday, May 16. April 20 kicks off National Volunteer Week and this is an amazing time to show some love by volunteering but also show love and appreciation for those who do volunteer!
Are you a CHANGE-AGENT A “change-maker” is someone who takes proactive, creative, fresh vision action and perspective. They aim at problems, new ideas, improvements, and work on social and cultural opportunities to bring about positive change and opportunities for the benefit of all. You give yourself permission to advance for the good of many. What is ADVOCACY? It is the act of taking a position or supporting a cause. This work can range from contacting an elected official, (like your mayor, ME), about something specific you would like to see happen. An example is: voting for or against a bill, working towards a larger goal, or pushing for large-scale change. You may be an artist and believe our city should have an Art Village/Gallery. You may be a boat owner and would like to see our lakes utilized and developed more. Advocacy can reach from local to all the way to the State or National levels by getting involved. By taking a positive position and making your voice be heard, (advocating), you are helping to ensure that decision-makers understand the importance and impact your cause can make on people and improvements in a town/nation! Be a change-maker/agent and advocate for the things you would like to see in Bowling Green. Dream big and ask yourself, “What could Bowling Green Be?”
According to the USDA, President Trump is allotting billions of dollars to smaller and rural banks as opposed to bigger national banks for the purpose of making funds more available for small business loans. Interest rates are falling also!
