BOWLING GREEN, Mo. — Alan Hiles, dressed as U.S. Speaker of the House and presidential candidate Champ Clark, winds up a cylinder phonograph to play music during the April 13 History Day exhibit sponsored by Bowling Green VFW Post 5553. A dozen booths showcased history from Pike County and beyond. The day, which drew dozens of spectators from around the area, included a Prisoner of War/Missing in Action Remembrance and a formal flag retirement ceremony. The VFW already has plans to host the event next year.
