LOUISIANA, Mo. — March, 18, 2024 – In an effort to maintain water quality and to ensure optimal functionality of the water distribution system, the City of Louisiana announces the flushing of water hydrants throughout city limits starting the first week of April. The hydrant flushing will continue until completion.
Hydrant flushing is a routine procedure that removes sediment and mineral deposits that may accumulate within the distribution pipes over time. By flushing the hydrants, water flow is increased, ensuring efficient water distribution and pressure throughout the system. Additionally, this process helps to maintain water clarity and quality, providing residents with clean and safe drinking water.
During the hydrant flushing period, residents may notice temporary discoloration or slight pressure fluctuations in their tap water. While these changes are typically short-lived and pose no health risks, residents are advised to exercise caution when using water for activities.
The City of Louisiana Water Department appreciates the cooperation and understanding of residents during this maintenance period.
