
CLARKSVILLE, Mo. — Hundreds of people from Missouri and Illinois enjoyed the festivities at Clarksville Eagle Days Jan. 27 and 28. Almost 300 school students from Pike and Lincoln counties previewed the event on Jan. 26. Live eagle programs were done at the Apple Shed Saturday and Sunday, and visitors could check out the birds in their natural habitat from Riverfront Park. There were also tours of Lock and Dam 24, children’s activities, food and vendors.

Penny Womble dishes up a free bowl of homemade chili for Fancy Turnbaugh and her family during Clarksville Methodist Church’s Eagle Days Soup Luncheon Jan. 27. Crowds also enjoyed homemade chicken noodle and ham and bean soups, bread and desserts. The meal was the congregation’s way of offering thanks to the community for its support of church projects and the Girl Scouts troop it sponsors.
Fourth-graders from Bowling Green Elementary were among almost 300 students from Pike and Lincoln counties who were treated to a preview of Clarksville Eagle Days Jan. 26. The kids got a close-up look at taxidermy featured at the Herman Wortmann Wildlife Exhibit. They also were introduced by the Army Corps of Engineers to an American kestrel named “Billy,” a Western hognose snake called “Hazel” and a Three-Toed box turtle that answered to “Genevieve.”
