MONROE CITY, Mo. — The Bulldogs didn’t quite get the finish they were hoping for, taking fourth place in the 99th Annual Monroe City Tournament.
The fourth-seeded Bulldogs tried to bounce back from the tough semifinal loss in the third place game against (2) South Shelby on Friday, December 8.
Louisiana started the game off hot, taking a commanding lead on the Cardinals. Unfortunately, a cold spell for the Bulldogs proved too much for them to bounce back. A fourth quarter surge brought some life into the Bulldogs faithful, but Louisiana ran out of time, losing 46-43.
The Bulldogs kicked off the tournament facing (5) Mark Twain in the opening round. Louisiana looked strong taking the lead against the Tigers and never looking back. They commanded the pace of the game and were able to pick apart Mark Twain’s defense. Louisiana kicked off the tournament taking home the win in the 65-43 victory.
Advancing to the championship semifinal, the Bulldogs took on an undefeated top-seeded Palmyra team. Louisiana didn’t have quite the same luck scoring as they did in the previous game and would not be able to give Palmyra their first loss of the season. The Bulldogs fell 57-24.
Next the Bulldogs will look to bounce back on Tuesday, December 12, with an EMO Conference match-up against Bowling Green.
