LOUISIANA, Mo. — The 2023-2024 Louisiana Basketball season is about to begin. The boys open the season on Tuesday, November 21. The Bulldogs will be going against the Pleasant Hill Wolves.
Last time the Bulldogs faced the Wolves was last season in 2022 where they brought home a huge victory. The final score was 71-28. With this being the season opener for both teams, we do not really know what exactly to expect out of both teams.
Head coach Matt Smith says, “We can’t discount them because it’s their first game and it’s obviously our first game too. I’ve seen us do some good things and I’ve seen us do some bad things. I don’t know how it’s going to go to be honest.”
The team as a whole will be full of a few familiar faces but mostly new ones. As the team lost most of their starting varsity players from last year due to graduation, the new seniors are forced to step up.
Smith says, “We pretty much have a whole entire new team. We have maybe one guy that has played legitimate varsity minutes. Other than that, it’s an entirely new team. We are going to play some freshmen, and it’s going to be a new experience for all of them.”
Although many seniors graduated last year, there are a few seniors on the team who will help lead the team. Seniors Ethen Harrison, Cooper Lumley, and Wyatt Martin have experience playing varsity. They are the guys that Smith will rely on this season.
