BOWLING GREEN, Mo. — Drivers can expect to see a lot of activity on U.S. Route 54 at the industrial park near Bowling Green as construction begins on a grading and pavement improvement project, one mile east of Bowling Green in Pike County. The work is scheduled to begin May 30.
The project includes pavement widening and shoulder work to allow for center and right turn lanes at Legion Road. During construction, motorists can expect temporary lane closures in this area. Flaggers will be utilized to direct motorists through the work zone. Signs and message boards will be in place to alert motorists, as schedule changes occur.
“The businesses at the industrial park have created significant additional employment opportunities for area residents,” explained Missouri Department of Transportation Area Engineer Emily Edgar. “This area has experienced a considerable amount of economic growth in recent years, leading to increased passenger and commercial traffic. This project will help improve safety and traffic flow at this location in addition to allow for easier access to the area for commercial truck traffic,” she added.

Emery Sapp & Sons, Inc. was awarded the contract by the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission this Spring for $1,023,629. This project is a being completed under the Economic Development Cost Share Program with the City of Bowling Green. The contractor will have 100 calendar days to complete the project with all work to be completed by early October.
