KJFM SPORTS — The Pleasant Hill/Western Wild Wolves watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 13-0 loss to Rushville-Industry on Tuesday.
The Wild Wolves struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Rushville-Industry, giving up 13 runs.
The Rockets opened up scoring in the first inning, when Bennett Freteug singled on a 1-1 count, scoring two runs.
One bright spot for Pleasant Hill/Western was a single by Alex Peters in the first inning.
Macon Kessler was the winning pitcher for Rushville-Industry. The ace surrendered zero runs on four hits over five and two-thirds innings, striking out 12. Wyatt Fowler threw one-third of an inning in relief out of the bullpen.
Peters took the loss for the Wild Wolves. The pitcher surrendered 13 runs on 14 hits over five and two-thirds innings, striking out six.
The Rockets launched two home runs on the day. Jordan McGinnis went deep in the fourth inning. Freteug went for the long ball in the sixth inning.
Thorne Holcomb led Pleasant Hill/Western with two hits in three at bats.
Rushville-Industry tallied 14 hits on the day. Fowler, Derrick Phillips, McGinnis, Isaac Little, and Freteug each had multiple hits for the Rockets. Fowler went 4-for-4 at the plate to lead Rushville-Industry in hits. Rushville-Industry didn’t commit a single error in the field. Bronson Bartlett had 14 chances in the field, the most on the team.
