KJFM SPORTS —This baseball season for Clopton Hawks has seen great improvement when compared to this time in the season last year. The varsity team has played in seven games so far, and have won three, those who have played in previous years have shown large improvements, and the new freshmen show great promise. Just last Monday, at the game against Marion County, Jordan Jennewein, catcher, was able to hit a home run, and only on the second pitch of the game at that. 

In the upcoming game, the baseball team has high hopes and are eager to take on the Elsberry Indians. The Hawks look for Peter Daskalakis to be in prime form when taking the mound against the Indians. 

When asked about his expectations for the upcoming game, he had this to say “We are going to go out there and play as hard as we can, and get the job done.” 

Second baseman, Mike Maiuro, had this to say about the future of the season, “Pretty much just hope to get some more outs, throw kids out at first base, and to see my batting improve over the season.” 

“We improve on a daily basis,” said Coach Tony Francis about his expectations for the team. “We will never be afraid to make aggressive mistakes, and we will improve our team culture .” 

The Clopton Hawks are eager to meet and exceed his expectations when playing the Indians, and as Daskalakis said, they will surely “Get the job done.”
